Twilight on Route 66
Route 66 was established in 1926 and was well-traveled until 1985 when it was decommissioned. By the year 1966 with interstate super highways, the classic route was in decline. Through this metal assemblage, I invite viewers to embark on a visual odyssey along the iconic Route 66, a symbol of freedom, adventure, and the ever-evolving landscape of the American Dream. Utilizing authentic 1966 license plates and salvaged fragments, each piece serves as a tangible link to the rich tapestry of history woven along this legendary highway. In this creation, I pay homage to the spirit of exploration and the continuing fascination of the open road. Ultimately, this art is a testament to the enduring legacy of Route 66 and the timeless allure of American optimism.
